Foundation Excavation
Foundation and Basement Excavation in Waco
Undergracephoto digs footings, crawl spaces, and full basements to plan depth and dimension for Waco builds. We over dig for forms, manage the spoil so the lot stays workable, and hand off a level, compacted bearing surface ready for concrete. On a foundation site the dig is where the build succeeds or fails, so we treat the bearing surface as the whole point of the job, not an afterthought before the pour.
Why the Dig Matters More Than People Think
Much of McLennan County sits on expansive clay that moves with moisture, and a footing set on soft or uneven ground is a crack waiting to happen. We check the bearing surface before anyone pours, add structural fill where the plan needs it, and confirm depth against your drawings. A footing dug $100 to $150 per linear foot is cheap next to a foundation that settles because the subgrade was never right.
Our Process
We start with a free 811 utility locate, which in Texas takes about two business days, then strip topsoil and dig to plan depth. We compact any structural fill in controlled lifts to 95 percent of maximum dry density by Standard Proctor test, and in any cut 5 feet and deeper we use sloping, benching, or a trench box as OSHA requires. Then we grade drainage away from the slab so water sheds off New Road side of the pad.
