My two kids at two months

Henry is a little bigger than Sydney at this age…. so much so that Shawn and I high-fived at the doctor’s office at Henry’s one-week visit when we heard he was in the 32nd percentile for weight. Dorky, right? It’s the little things that make life interesting. Here is a side-by-side comparison at two months old:

Guess which one is Sydney and which one is Henry.

Nathan, Brianne + Noah

Look for Nathan and Brianne in the upcoming March issue of Alive magazine, written up by excellent wordsmythe Kristen Stefek!

Once Brianne cracks up, it’s hard not to join.

Mmmmmm…. wheat and wildflowers by the Petal Shoppe (573) 649-2141?.

Noah wasn’t used to all the attention a little guy in a smart suit attracts.

So pretty! You’ve probably walked by this old oak tree in Forest Park. It is over 100 years old!

something new: spinning the reception

Something a little different- a spun reception with House Music, a la Boogie Knights:

Not the type of DJ who takes requests. That’s a good thing.

Hands down the best party I’ve been to in a long time. Incredible.

Justin+Amy: Engaged

We met in Old Town Saint Charles in between Christmas and the New Year for a twilight session. It was cold but I don’t think Justin and Amy felt it. They have an interesting history together (which I’ll let Amy tell in her interview), culminating with a call-to-arms to Justin from Amy via song. The song was none other than Springtime Indiana (listen here) from St. Louis native (and one of my husband and I’s favorite artists) Sandra McCracken- excerpt from the song below:

“I’ve never been good with my thoughts

And even worse with my words

But you read like familiar poetry

That I have never heard…

I wish I could tell you…but I just can’t find the words”  – Sandra McCracken

I can’t wait to see you both on your wedding day! Thanks guys!

Harper

Harper is a doll- look at that crinkly nose smile!

Mom you look beautiful!

Daddy still makes her smile as big as when she was new.

No, she isn’t going for it.

Katie’s Bling-a-ring

Katie’s dad owns a jewelry shop, so she has a very good sense of fine jewelry. I had to capture this incredible ring. Stunning! If the wedding follows suit, this will be one fabulous event.

Brother Alphonse and sister Katie

Katie and Alphonse gifted their mother a photo session of themselves for Christmas.  It was coooold the day we shot, and Alphonse is used to Los Angeles weather. He was an icicle to say the least!

Merry Christmas Mom!

Zeda geekage and a business adage

There is a saying I’ve always loved pertaining to business- “Be yourself, and you will attract the perfect client.” This rings most true in extremely personal services like wedding and portrait photography, where the chemistry between the client and the photographer can make or break the final product!

I got an email back from Wes, politely suggesting a font choice more closely matched to Zelda. I’m so tickled that they know that! We geeks need to stick together. Here it is, in case you might need it someday. Below is the final masterpeice:

Terri+Matt : Engaged in Chicago

Terri and Matt are so fun. I first met Terri at Jennifer’s wedding in 2008 (remember the pushups?) Here they are tearing it up on the dance floor:

We will be seeing them soon for their wedding in Chicago!

I love Chicago, and am going to have a killer time there!  Must-stops that weekend are Intelligentsia and Giordano’s Pizza. Any other suggestions?

Matt loves fixing motorcycles, flying airplanes, cooking extravagant meals, and working in Law…. and when he unbuttons his shirt you can see a big ‘S’.

By the way, they also love ballroom dancing.

Terri has a heart as big as her smile.
