1. How did your husband pop the question?
“We had already surpassed our 9 Year Anniversary AND Valentines Day, so to say the least, I was not in a festive mood. We had decided to do date the following Saturday night. On Friday, I was like, “What are we going to do, got any ideas?”. He was like, “I got it, we have a 7:30 reservation”. That intrigued me because he doesn’t typically plan unless its a special occasion. Anyhoo, Saturday evening rolls around and he’s driving us to dinner (and I’m clueless where)…and we pull up to El Gaucho which is a iconic Seattle Steakhouse + Hotel. I was soooo excited because I had never eaten there.
We had a wonderful dinner and as we were heading out of the restaurant, he pulls me toward the stairs that lead up to the Hotel area. After he led me upstairs and bypassed the front desk- that’s when I was starting to get nervous! He had a room and led me to it…and opened the door up to rose petals all over the room and champagne….I was so nervous and I started crying my eyes out! I fumbled with the champagne like he told me and something had fallen to the ground. Corey *sighed* and picked up that something **THE RING** and he got down on his knee and asked to marry him….”

2. How far in advance did you start planning?
“A week after we got engaged. Truly? The next day I started thinking about good times of the year for our wedding.”

3. Where (if anywhere) did you go on your honeymoon? “The Caribbean, St. Lucia”
4. What elements of your wedding were DIY (if any)? “Save the Dates, Programs, Table Numbers, Centerpieces”

5. What about your wedding caught you by surprise? ” The time flying by. I wished I would have stood my ground and done all the photo poses that I had planned to do.”
6. Now that you are a wedding planning veteran, would you change anything if you had to do it all over again? “Yes, I would hire a wedding planner for the last few weeks to tie loose ends help with all the little details. I would have also used one of The Knot.com’s or The Wedding Channels guest list tools rather than excel spreadsheets. They will be more indicative with labels, thank you notes, tracking presents, etc.”
7. Describe the moment you remember most fondly from your wedding day: “Crying from the excitement about getting married and my husband being by my side the entire day. Also, seeing all of our family and friends come to witness our big day. It was so wonderful.”

8. List any helpful links/websites/vendors you used during the planning stages- The Knot
9. What advice would you give to future brides? Really try to stay true to your own ideas for your wedding. There will be lots of advise sent your way… Also, DELEGATE. This is so important, really try to get help from your bridesmaids. Lastly, you cannot be over prepared. If it’s one thing that really made my day far less stressful, it was being prepared!! Don’t sweat the small stuff!
